Now that the future home of Scottish football is coming down to a straight choice between Hampden and Murrayfield, I hope that we stay where we are.
Listen, in an ideal world the money that was spent on the revamp of the national stadium all those years ago would have given us a ground with stands closer to the pitch.
But that didn’t happen, and I wouldn’t imagine throwing more cash on another update is a goer when money is tight at the SFA.
That appears to be the biggest issue people have with Hampden – that the fans are too far away and you don’t get a great atmosphere when it’s not full.
But isn’t that exactly the same at Murrayfield?
The main stand there has a running track between it and the pitch.
Also, with there being a bigger capacity at Murrayfield, it will be half-empty more than Hampden would be.
Deep down, there’s something which doesn’t sit right about our national football stadium being a rugby ground.
Hampden has its faults but from a player’s point of view, it was still a dream come true to play there for your club or country.
You can feel the history of the place.
Another thing that doesn’t get mentioned is that it usually takes teams a while to get adjusted to their new home – just look at West Ham and Spurs.
We’re desperate to qualify for a tournament and do we really want the players having to have a bedding-in period for a couple of campaigns?
Anyway, the biggest thing for me isn’t what ground we’re going to be playing in. It’s who our next manager is going to be.
Get that sorted first!
* Neil McCann keeps ticking the boxes.
There have been some horrible results against Hamilton in recent years – particularly away from home.
To grind out a 2-1 win on Saturday was huge.
And every Dundee fan knows about the club’s record in Inverness.
To end that hoodoo is even more impressive. Dundee now have a very winnable tie at Dens against Motherwell to get into the last eight of the cup.
If they can beat Ross County on Saturday it will be one of the best weeks for Dundee in quite a while.
That would be three wins in a row and there would be a gap between themselves and County that Owen Coyle’s men would struggle to close.
If this continues they will have to be considered serious contenders for the top six.
* All supporters love to see young players coming through.
Dundee appear to have a couple of good ones.
Let’s hope that Matty Henvey’s goal at Hamilton is the first of many.
I got to see a few of the youngsters at close quarters during Dave Mackay’s testimonial.
All of them, Henvey included, were full of confidence.
The one who impressed me the most was actually Jack Lambert.
He really looked the part.
As long as they don’t get carried away with a bit of first team action, there’s no reason why these boys can’t keep progressing and have good Dundee careers ahead of them.
