There has been a lot of talk in the last few days about how many wins Dundee will need to stay up.
For me, three would probably give them a fighting chance of getting above St Mirren.
But when you consider that they’ve only won four in 30-odd games of league football, that puts into perspective the scale of the task.
Over the last few weeks you couldn’t fail to see on social media and chatting to fans that Dundee supporters didn’t want a play-off against Dundee United, particularly when they were second bottom and Hamilton Accies were within reach.
But now, even though it would be stressful and they would choose any other Championship team than United to face, they would take a play-off now, that’s for sure.
You can write off Accies. They’re too far in front. It’s a play-off or straight down.
Hopefully this free weekend will give a few players time to recover from niggles and for Jim McIntyre to decide what his strongest team is.
There are no midweek games so now is the time to pick an 11 and to give them a run in the team.
* I can’t see past a Celtic v Hearts Scottish Cup final.
Aberdeen will fancy their chances against Celtic this weekend but I think the prospect of the Treble Treble will drive Neil Lennon’s men on.
It wouldn’t surprise me to see them going up a level again.
Inverness Caley Thistle have got a real chance against Hearts but, even though they lost to Hibs, this is a top six Premiership club and Craig Levein won’t allow them to take Caley Thistle lightly.
* Saturday’s win against Montrose was our best performance in the last few weeks.
We were much more like our old selves.
Raith Rovers popped up with a goal to mean the title wasn’t won but we don’t have to rely on any other results this weekend at Brechin.
Barry Smith will have them fighting for everything so there’s no way we’re taking anything for granted but we would love to finish the job off in style.
