Two young girls from Fintry are spreading Christmas kindness by delivering cards to care home residents.
Rebecca and Scarlet Redmond wrote cards to every resident at the Pitkerro Care Centre during lockdown last year to spread Christmas cheer.
And they were so well received that the girls decided to do it again this year, to show the Dundee care home’s 70 residents they are still thinking of them.
The home is special to Rebecca, 10, and Scarlet, seven, as their great-grandad was a resident there before he passed away in 2014.
The girls’ mum Nicky, 36, said: “Rebecca remembers going there to visit him, she was three at the time.
“We pass it a lot and they always ask about it and if he still lives there. We had to explain that no he doesn’t but other people do.”
Aware that family members were not allowed to visit care homes last year due to Covid restrictions, the sisters decided to write cards to cheer residents up.
Nicky added: “They came up with the idea themselves to be kind in lockdown, it was so cute.
“And the residents were so happy when they got them last year that they wanted to do it again to show them they were still thinking of them.
“The girls even got a few cards back, which they loved!”
In past acts of kindness, Rebecca and Scarlet also baked cookies for their neighbours during lockdown last year and handed out painted stones with their door numbers on them.
It’s really thoughtful of the girls and it’s a lovely way for kids to connect with the older generation.”

Nikki Hallburton, activities coordinator at Pitkerro Care Centre, says the residents were overjoyed with the Christmas cards.
She said: “It was brilliant last year because they didn’t know they were coming and they weren’t able to see any of their relatives due to Covid.
“They were only seeing us, so even a wee thing like a card really cheered them up.
“They were looking forward to getting them again this year and we had some cards for the girls too.
“It’s really thoughtful of the girls and it’s a lovely way for kids to connect with the older generation.”
Nikki added that she wanted to thank the girls on behalf of all the residents at Pitkerro Care Centre.
