Are you looking for the right nursery for your child? Then get your diary, because you won’t want to miss the High School of Dundee’s latest event.
The school’s nursery is holding a tour day on Friday, April 27, allowing parents and children the chance to visit and see for themselves how the nursery nourishes individual potential and allows it to grow.
Nursery manager Sarah Tosh, who is also an experienced primary teacher, explained: “A young child’s brain develops more rapidly up to the age of five than it ever will again. It is therefore vitally important that care and education in those early years is of the highest standard.
“Our nursery space, both indoors and out, provides the very best play-based learning opportunities for each child whilst at the same time being nurturing, comfortable, safe and fun. Children at the nursery learn across a broad curriculum with staff gently extending that learning at every opportunity through play and fun activities.
“The children will see this as simply playing and having fun. But they are working to develop the skills which will support their future learning without even realising it.”
Tours, which will be available from 9am until 4pm, are accompanied and must be booked in advance (see details below).
The nursery is located at the school’s Mayfield campus and has been created as a purposeful, modern environment to allow children to develop and learn. It also allows access to the school’s playing fields and wider grounds, so pupils get the chance to learn outside as well as in the classroom.
It’s open 50 weeks of the year and there’s a range of flexible sessions available for children, including morning, afternoon, school day and all day options (available year round or term time).
And the nursery has performed well since opening its doors, receiving a positive report after its first official inspection by the Care Inspectorate in 2015.
In the report, inspectors gave ratings of ‘very good’ for each of the four areas under review: the quality of care and support; the quality of environment; the quality of staffing; and the quality of management and leadership.
If you can’t make the tour day, individual tours can be arranged at most times during term-time. Visit the High School of Dundee website for more details.
