A trio of architect students at Dundee University have impressed judges at an international competition.
Mishell Parodi, Calum Ramsay and Elliot Reilly came second at the 2020 International Urban Design Competition in China.
The fourth year students’ submission — Repair and Revanchism — presented an overhaul of Shanhai’s old town area.
The design included ways to deal with a increasing population while acknowledging the area’s history.
The competition was organised by Tianjin University and Urban Environment Design magazine.
The jury panel comprised of nine Chinese judges and six international ones.
The Dundee students worked in collaboration with Tongki University, in Shanghai.
Mishell said: “The collaboration provided us access to the culture of Shanghai in a way which would otherwise have been unavailable to us.
“That experience played an integral role in helping us conceive a project which dealt with important international issues. Participating in an international competition was a new experience to all of us, but one which we would definitely recommend.”
