A Dundee University student will be the subject of a misconduct hearing, after allegedly asking a colleague “if she would ever consider going out with a black man”.
Social work student Orue Okiti is accused of a catalogue of misconduct between February and May 2013 while studying at the university, and on placements in Edinburgh.
He will appear before the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) at Compass House in Dundee on June 20, the start of a six-day hearing.
It is alleged Okiti, 48, while on placement at the Multi-Cultural Family Base (MCFB) in Edinburgh, said to one colleague: “I love your innocence and naivety”, called her “baby”, told her he loved her, and stroked her arm.
It is also alleged he repeatedly asked to go on dates with the woman, and said the woman’s partner was “no good” and she “should keep him away from her children”.
He has also been accused of asking another colleague “if she would ever consider going out with a black man” and of telling a young female service user that her mother was “hot”.
Other allegations include placing a child service user on his knee and promising a child “a treat”.
Through all the alleged misconduct, it is said that Okiti “caused distress to service users and colleagues and did fail to communicate or behave in an appropriate manner”.
Okiti could not be reached for comment.
A spokesman for Dundee University said the university would not comment on the case before the hearing.
