A talk offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the Oor Wullie Bucket Trail will kickstart Dundee University’s Saturday Evening Lecture 2017 series.
The special event marks the first of the annual series in the institution’s 50th anniversary year.
The Untold Story of the Oor Wullie Bucket Trail will feature talks from David Cunningham, chief executive of the ARCHIE Foundation, and Suzanne Scott, artists’ coordinator of the trail, both of whom are graduates from the university.
The event will be chaired by Ellis Watson, CEO of DC Thomson Publishing.
Suzanne said the lecture would cover how Dundee’s biggest-ever public event captured the imagination of people in the city and across the country.
She said: “There will be some stories from behind the scenes and things that haven’t been talked about before. There are a lot of things that popped up along the way that should be celebrated.
“We really want to show what it takes for the Bucket Trail to be put on.
“I was commissioned in October 2015, but I took on the artists’ coordinator role in February last year – so it’s almost been exactly a year.
“There will be a question and answer session too, if anyone has any burning questions about the trail and how it was organised.”
It is thought, given the popularity of the talk’s subject, that an overflow theatre may be in operation.
Tickets for the free event can be booked online.
Seats in the Dalhousie Building lecture theatre will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
The talk begins at 6pm on Saturday and lasts for an hour.
