Hundreds of Dundee University graduates from across the globe returned to their alma mater to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
A packed series of events was organised to mark the anniversary, kicking off with the opening of the Art, Design and Architecture Degree Show in Duncan of Jordanstone and a dinner dance on Friday night.
On Saturday there was even more for students and alumni to enjoy.
Visitors were given tours of the campus and we able to view an exhibition looking back on how the university looked when it received its Royal Charter in 1967.
There was also a lecture on the political and cultural events of 1967 while university principal Professor Sir Pete Downes was given the responsibility of cutting a special 50th anniversary cake.
There was also a barbecue and a ceilidh on campus on Saturday.
One of the highlights of the weekend was Dundee’s 1983 University Challenge champions taking on a team of current students in a quiz inspired by the TV show.
The current students just edged the competition by 130 points to 120.
On Sunday the DCA held a one-off screening of films made about the university since 1967 while a family fun day took place at Dundee Botanic Garden, which featured two performances of the Four Marys play.
There was also a 50-hour Minecraft challenge held over the weekend, where players were asked to design buildings for a new university campus using the game.
Professor Sir Pete Downes said the celebrations demonstrated the international reach and impact of Dundee University.
He said:Â “This has been a great weekend for the university, particularly in welcoming our alumni who have come from as far afield as Australia and the USA, and across the UK.
“This weekend illustrates the breadth of the university community, from the students exhibiting their work at Degree Show to our alumni who have gone on to great achievements in their chosen fields.
“Our events this weekend have brought thousands of people in to the city, which is great to see.
“All of this embodies what the university is, a community that extends throughout and beyond Dundee, creating great impact.
“We have seen that from students and alumni alike this weekend.”
