Police in Fife have yet to identify human remains found on a St Andrews beach earlier this month.
A member of the public made the grim discovery on Sunday June 3 at the West Sands, close to where missing student Duncan Sim was last seen three months ago.
The student’s family was informed of the development.
A section of coastline near The Scores was cordoned off following the discovery and the public was told to avoid the area as police carried out their investigations.
St Andrews University is continuing to support Duncan’s family as they anxiously wait for news.
Duncan was last seen just after 11pm on Wednesday March 14 after he left a social event at Madras Rugby Club.
The chemistry student from Duns in the Borders did not arrive back at his student accommodation.
He was last seen on CCTV near the Eden Clubhouse on St Andrews Links.
