Calling all local artists in primaries three and four. The Courier’s celebration of the special ladies in our lives is well underway – so it’s time to get scribbling.
If your school has not yet registered for Draw Your Mum 2020 but would like to participate, please contact: kstephen@dctmedia.co.uk as soon as possible to request a pack.
We will need all the pictures to be back with us by Wednesday February 26.
Now in its fourth year, The Courier’s drawing project asks local primary children to draw a picture of their mother along with a short message.
The pictures and messages will be published in a series of supplements in the run-up to Mother’s Day (Sunday March 22) beginning on Monday March 16.
We are always inspired to see so many beautiful creations as well as the thoughtful messages, and we can’t wait to look at this year’s submissions.
The Draw Your Mum project is completely free for the pupils and school to take part in and all the children have to do is draw a bright and colourful picture. Only one submission is allowed per child.
We appreciate that not every child has a mum in their life and we would encourage the boys and girls to include a picture of the important female figure in their lives. We are happy to leave this choice to the discretion of the teacher, who will know each child’s circumstances.
All primary schools in Dundee, Angus, Perthshire and Fife who have registered interest in taking part should already have received their welcome packs.
We hope the boys and girls have fun producing their pictures and thinking of a special message ahead of Mother’s Day. Over the years we have received great feedback from children, teachers and parents. In particular, teachers say that pupils approach the project with much enthusiasm and enjoy discussing their relationships – especially the things they love doing together.
Drawings must be submitted on the template provided in the welcome pack – teachers can photocopy more if required and they can be sent to The Courier in the pre-paid envelope included.
Please remember that in order for the images to appear clearly in the paper, the pictures should be bright and bold. Try to encourage the children to position their picture in the centre of the template provided and make it as large as possible within the space. In previous years we have found that pictures coloured with crayon or felt tipped pens often stand out better in print.
Draw Your Mum is open to primaries three and four only. Please remember to include your participation slip with entries in order to permit us to publish the drawings. Unfortunately, any submissions received after the closing date cannot be included in the supplements.
