From the very first drive down Front Avenue, Glenalmond College captivates the heart and kindles a keen sense of pride in this exceptional school.
Set in 300 acres, Glenalmond is simply stunning – a hidden gem just 15 minutes from Perth, providing a healthy, natural environment in which children thrive.
Welcoming boys and girls aged 12 – 18, Glenalmond offers boarding, flexi-boarding and day options, including free local transport. It was this month ranked as one of the UK’s top schools in Tatler Magazine’s Top Prep and Public Schools Guide. The publication describes the school as “exuding sprightly Scottish spirit from every one of its 320 magnificent acres”.
Meanwhile, the latest edition of Country Living lists Glenalmond among just a handful of British schools where “enviable rural locations complement excellent all-round education, providing plenty of fresh air, freedom and easily accessible outdoor activities.”
Outstanding teaching
While Glenalmond is exceptionally beautiful, it is when families meet and speak with staff and existing pupils that what sets Glenalmond apart from all others really shines through.
The calibre of the carefully-recruited staff underpins the school’s excellent academic track record which this year saw pupils achieve:
- 100% pass rate in 24 subjects at A-Level (67% at A*-B)
- 100% pass rate in 12 subjects at Higher
- 56% of pupils achieved A*-A grades in their GCSEs
Glenalmond’s outstanding standard of teaching was highlighted in a recent Education Scotland Inspection Report (November, 2019) which also commended the school’s “welcoming, friendly and supportive” ethos. This promotes a “sense of respect and kindness across the school community….young people speak very proudly about their school and their many achievements.”
Pupils at Glenalmond are described in the report as “courteous, highly motivated and keen to experience challenge in their learning.”
Plus, almost £2 million pounds of investment has been undertaken at the school over the past two years, including a range of new, state-of-the-art sports facilities.
A new indoor Golf Hub, with simulation screens, has been opened as part of the Golf School. Sports facilities also include two new all-weather astro surfaces for hockey and tennis, including an Olympic standard, water-based astro turf pitch.
