Parents of pupils at Grove Academy in Dundee have been offered reassurance after a positive Covid-19 case linked to the school.
NHS Tayside confirmed on Wednesday that one individual linked to the school in Broughty Ferry had tested positive for coronavirus.
The health board said contact tracing had been carried out and all those identified as having had close contact with the case had been advised to self-isolate until Sunday October 11.
It is the second case linked to the Dundee secondary school.
NHS Tayside Consultant in Public Health Medicine Dr Eleanor Hothersall said: “I would like to reassure parents that if you have not been contacted individually this means that your child has not been identified as a contact in the school, and they can continue to attend school and undertake other activities as normal.
“All appropriate precautions are in place and the schools remain open.”
There was said to be no evidence of transmission occurring in the school and the Grove remains open to the rest of the pupils and staff.
Audrey May, Dundee City Council chief education officer, said: “Parents may be feeling more anxious as positive cases are identified in schools, however we are working closely with colleagues in Public Health to ensure there is a swift and appropriate response to ensure pupil and staff safety.”
