Five sets of twins are among the hundreds of children starting school in Perthshire after the summer holidays.
Over 2,300 children and young people will be going to primary and secondary schools across Perth and Kinross for the first time today.
Included in this year’s intake of 1,144 P1 pupils are 5 sets of twins from across the region.
Among those taking the big step from nursery to primary school are twins Hunter and Kathleen Leckie.
The five-year-olds are joining Stanley Primary School.
Mum Beth Turton said they are both excited about starting school.
She said Kathleen was ready to start school last year but Hunter wasn’t due to development delays and instead of separating them entry was deferred for both for a year.
Seeing them in their school uniforms, we knew it was the right decision to have them start school at the same time. They were meant to go together.”

She continued: “Seeing them in their school uniforms, we knew it was the right decision to have them start school at the same time.
“They were meant to go together.”
Beth added: “I think they are nervous about leaving their nursery teacher Miss Auburn because she did wonders with them.
“She made sure Kathleen wasn’t bored at nursery and took her aside to do some primary one work with her and she helped Hunter to flourish into the little boy he is now.”
‘Very excited’ to be starting school
Five-year-old twins Fergus and Thea Grassie are starting P1 at Murthly Primary.
Mum Zoe said: “Fergus has been calling himself the ‘P Man’ because he is starting P1 and he has a little dance to accompany it!
“While Thea has been practising her writing so they are both very excited.
“They are looking forward to seeing their friends and it will be kinda cute to see them all in their uniforms together.”
Meanwhile, Auchterarder twins William and Molly Mclaughlin, 4, are joining Aberuthven Primary.
Mum Victoria said: “Molly is looking forward to meeting new friends and William is looking forward to playing.
“I think they are more excited than nervous because they have been for induction days at Aberuthven Primary and the nursery has taken them too, so they know the layout and they have met kids who are going as well.”
They are very close and look out for each other. Mayson always makes sure Alyx is ok if she is upset.”

Perth twins Mayson and Alyx Temple, 5, are starting at Letham Primary School.
Mum Christina Duncan said: “They are not just excited – they are super-duper excited to start school!
“Alyx is excited to learn about things and Mayson wants to play with the dinosaurs.
“They are very close and look out for each other. Mayson always makes sure Alyx is ok if she is upset.”
She added: “I might have a lump in my throat on Wednesday as these are my babies going to school.”
‘Very keen on learning new things’
Almondbank twins Angus and Archie Gellatly, 4, are joining Pitcairn Primary School.
Mum Aimee said: “They don’t seem too fussed for starting school because they have gone through nursery together and a lot of their wee pals are going up as well so it isn’t too big a change for them.
“Archie is very keen on learning new things and is very enthusiastic, his brother not so much – I think he is just there for a carry on!
“Angus is full of confidence and Archie is a bit more shy I would say.”
She added: “It just hit me that they are starting school.
“I’m not really an emotional person but I think I will be on Wednesday. I don’t think I am ready!”
