A driving ban comes into force in streets around another two Dundee primary schools today.
Part-time traffic restrictions will now be in place for areas around Rosebank Primary and Our Lady’s RC Primary at Coldside Campus.
At what times will traffic be banned?
In streets where the scheme – known as Safer Streets – is in force driving will be prohibited on school days from 8.30am to 9.15am and 3pm to 3.30pm.
Which streets will be affected?
- Ann Street
- Whistlers Way
- Nelson Street
- Annan Terrace
- Kidd Street
Who will be exempt?
Residents will be exempt from the ban along with emergency vehicles and contracted taxis for school transport.
All other vehicles will be subject to enforcement by Police Scotland.
Free permits for residents’ vehicles will be available from Dundee City Council.
Why is a driving ban being introduced?
The initiative aims to make routes to school safer for children while encouraging active travel.
Adults who take their children to school by car will be encouraged to walk to school or park in nearby locations and walk their children the rest of the journey.
Where are driving bans already in place?
Traffic bans are already in place in streets around the following schools in Dundee:
- Forthill Primary
- St Mary’s Primary
- Fintry Primary
- North East Campus – Longhaugh Primary and St Francis Primary

Over the next few weeks, driving bans will come into force at the following schools in Dundee:
- St Andrews RC Primary (November 21)
- Downfield Primary (November 28)
- Craigiebarns Primary (December 5)
