Excitement is mounting for the first ever Evening Telegraph Christmas Concert – and here’s a glimpse of what to expect.
We attended a rehearsal with the High School of Dundee’s cantabile choir and heard them practise.
The school is one of six local schools and youth groups which will perform a series of festive favourites in our Meadowside office on Sunday.
And if you don’t want to miss the seasonal sparkle snap up your tickets before it’s too late for the 1.30pm and 4.30pm performances.
High School of Dundee cantabile choir:
The school has three groups taking part, the cantabile choir, its L4/5 choir and members of its pipe band.
They will perform:
- Children Of The World, by Mary Green and Julie Stanley
- Watch Me Fly by Masa Fukuda
- Nativity Carol by John Rutter
- Ding Dong Merrily On High
Dr Lionel Steuart Forthringham, the school’s music director, said: “Our pupils have been rehearsing their songs and pipe tunes with enthusiasm in preparation for the Dundee Evening Telegraph concerts.
“They’re working hard, getting into the Christmas spirit to give the audience the best musical performance they can.
“We look forward to the chance of performing for the people of Dundee at this fantastic new venture in the city’s Christmas festivities.”
Also taking part in the concert are:
- Dundee NYCOS
- Dundee Youth Music Theatre
- Braeview Academy
- Harris Academy
- Tayside Makaton Choir
We hope the event will become a regular feature of Christmas in Dundee, inspired by the annual festive concert our sister newspaper the Evening Express has staged in Aberdeen for more than 50 years.
Local schools will benefit, as proceeds from ticket sales will go to our Pounds for Primaries initiative in which local schools collect tokens to share in a £10,000 prize pot.
Tickets available through www.eventbrite.com – search for Evening Telegraph Christmas Concert 2022 – cost £10 for adults and £5 for concessions plus a booking fee.
