A schoolgirl was kicked in the head and knocked out by another girl at Kirkcaldy High – as a woman shouted instructions and encouragement to the attacker.
The incident took place at lunchtime on Friday at a side entrance to the school off Dunnikier Way.
Footage seen by The Courier shows the pupils fighting as a crowd watches on, with an adult bystander hurling vile remarks during the incident.
She refers to one of the schoolgirls as “it” and shouts “grab it by the hood, pull it, kick its c*** in”, “drag it to the ground, to the ground, that’s it” and “punch its face in.”
The youngsters trade punches and kicks before falling to the ground.
When another bystander tries to separate the pair, the woman pushes her away so the fight can carry on.
She continues to manhandle the bystander as the trouble escalates.
The woman then turns back to the pupils and pulls one girl, standing over the other one on the ground, away and says “get off”.
She then says: “Kick its face in now.”
Gasps can be heard from onlookers as the attacker kicks the grounded youngster in the head, with the victim’s body going limp.
We have chosen not to share the video due to its shocking and distressing nature.
The pupil who was attacked is believed to have been taken to Victoria Hospital after the incident.
Police enquiry ‘ongoing’
Officers have confirmed they were in attendance and that inquiries are ongoing, however no one has been charged in connection with the incident.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 1.30pm on Friday, 3 March, 2023, we were made aware of a disturbance in the Dunnikier Way area which had taken place earlier in the day. Inquiries are ongoing.”
Deborah Davidson, education manager for Fife Council, said: “I can confirm there was an incident at Kirkcaldy High School on Friday.
“This is now a police matter and therefore it’d be inappropriate for us to comment further.
“I would add that aggression and violence are not tolerated in any of our schools.
“Through our engagement with young people and families we continue to reinforce the impact and fallout of bullying and physical violence.”
The incident comes after a series of attacks in another Fife school, Waid Academy, in Anstruther, were uncovered last month.
