All schools in Perth and Kinross will be closed for a second day, it has been announced.
All schools were shut to pupils on Thursday and, with no let-up in the wintry conditions, they will remain so until the weekend.
The council stated: “Current weather conditions across Perth and Kinross along with the forecasts for the next 24 hours are continually under review. As widespread snow fall and drifting is expected to continue all of our schools are closed on Friday 2 March 2018 to both pupils and staff.”
Unlike on Thursday, when the council was criticised for asking teacher to attend where possible, staff have been told to work from home.
We hope that schools will reopen on Monday, but will advise if this changes.
School staff should work from home. All non-school based staff are reminded that the severe weather arrangements still apply, for ease of reference these are available here: https://t.co/zWCCcqHf3l

The authority added: “We appreciate that the closure of schools may impact on childcare arrangements for staff who might otherwise be able to attend their normal place of work. Please speak to your line manager to discuss as appropriate.”
Perth and Kinross is the second council in Tayside and Fife to announce a blanket closure on Friday. Fife did so early on Thursday morning.
