Staff at a Fife high school which was forced to close after water supply issues hope to have the education hub reopened tomorrow morning.
The emergency closure was put in place at Inverkeithing High School at around 8.30am on Tuesday.
Pupils travelling in on buses were dropped off back home after the news broke.
An issue with a water meter that connects the supply to the school has been identified and repair works are being carried out.
Neil Finnie, senior compliance officer for Fife Council, is urging parents and carers to keep an eye out for updates via text and social media.
He said: “There’s an issue with the water meter that supplies Inverkeithing High School.
“We’re working with Scottish Water and other partners to try and work around the problem – this involves manufacturing and fitting new pipework.
“Although we’re hoping to get this in place tonight (Tuesday), it is likely to be late evening before we can confirm whether the school can open tomorrow.
“We’d ask parents to look out for text/email alerts or check the council’s updates on Facebook or Twitter.”
