The second week of Perform in Perth is back with a bang, with Perthshire pupils picking up prizes already.
The first week of events at the 95th Perthshire Musical Competition Festival was heralded as another great success by the organisers.
And the second week of performances kicked off at the Fair City’s St Leonard’s In The Fields church hall on Monday, March 11.
Students from all corners of the region took to the stage at the Marshall Place church for the vocal solos and duets round.
Two trophies were handed out on Monday morning, Abigail Strickland of Glenalmond College picked up The Christine Donaghy Cup for her rendition of To One Dead from Over the Rim of the Moon by Michael Head in the girl’s solo.
Meanwhile, Breadalbane Academy’s Isla and Adara picked up the Jean Wallace Memorial Trophy, which is awarded to the best vocal duet for under 18s.
The duo were awarded the prize for their performance of Somewhere Over The Rainbow.
Pupils from the Community School of Auchterarder and Strathallan School also scooped top scores in the singing categories.
On Monday afternoon and evening, young musicians took to the Gannochy Auditorium stage at Perth Concert Hall.
The orchestral performances continued until 9pm, with strings, brass, wind and percussion groups all performing into the night at the Mill Street venue.
The performers are returning to St Leonard’s In The Fields this morning for woodwind solos, with strings, piano and brass performances still to come before the grand finale this weekend.
