The Being Human humanities festival is back at Dundee University and this time, it’s breaking bad – or rather, Breaking Books.
Not literally, of course. But this year’s Being Human is all about bringing down barriers to literacy and literature.
Events will celebrate the real heroes of Dundee – comic books – as well as the female trailblazers of sci fi, and more.
Scheduled and ‘pop-by’ activities will take place across the university campus and at venues such as Dundee Central Library, and the Overgate, as well as on Zoom.
Organiser Dr Daniel Cook said: “Books nourished us during the pandemic and are timeless artefacts that record the greatest of human breakthroughs.
“However, reading can also be ableist, and books are prohibitively expensive for some. We are determined to smash these barriers at this year’s festival and democratise access to great storytelling.”
