Upcoming Dundee outfit Plasmas are relishing a return visit to The Hunter S Thompson after selling out the Perth Road venue in July.

When the indie five-piece’s fans filled THST, Plasmas frontman Ross McQueen considered it their best gig yet.

‘The place was bouncing’

He says: “The place was absolutely bouncing and there was such an electric energy, I couldn’t even put it into words. It was maybe the first time I’ve thought, ‘Whoa, something’s happening here’, you know?”

Upcoming Dundee band, Plasmas.

Ross aims to match the atmosphere next Friday, with a quality line-up completed by Sunstinger and Red Vanilla, saying, “We’re hoping for more of the same this time round; we’ve added a bit more to the set and the supports are amazing. It’s going to be a belter of a night.”

Debut EP

It follows last month’s release on streaming services of debut EP, A Summer’s Day Can Break Your Heart, named after a line from one of its five bittersweet dream-pop tracks.

With no plans for an expensive physical release, Ross’s ambition is to sell cassettes at gigs.

He explains: “I got obsessed with the eighties last year and bought an original Walkman – would be so cool to listen to the EP on that!”
