Art and gaming are both on the cards in the current show at The Federation gallery in Dundee’s Keiller Centre.

Be Seeing You features bold images created by Edinburgh-based games designer Tanya Floaker for her role-playing game of the same name.

Under surveillance

In her creation, players find themselves in a sinister location named The Village, where residents’ – or inmates’ – actions and even thoughts are controlled by surveillance.

In Be Seeing You, residents’ – or inmates’ – actions and even thoughts are controlled by surveillance.

She says Be Seeing You is inspired by her interests in science fiction and dystopian fantasies, notably cult sixties TV series The Prisoner.

Neon Digital Arts

Tanya’s exhibition forms part of the winter programme of Neon Digital Arts, the Dundee-based organisation that aims to improve understanding and accessibility of technology-driven art.

After Neon set up premises in the same shopping centre as The Federation, Be Seeing You is the latest collaboration between the two.

As well as showing artwork inspired by the game, some of which includes quotes by figures such as rapper and poet Kae Tempest, Neon is hosting an event where participants can play Be Seeing You for themselves.

Tanya will also be on hand to discuss how we can play games to explore new ideas.

  • Be Seeing You runs at The Federation Wednesdays to Saturdays until December 17. Game sessions on November 26.
