Former Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi will be making a special appearance at Edinburgh’s Capital Sci-Fi Con on Saturday February 16, to help raise much needed funds for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

Peter will be meeting fans and signing autographs at Edinburgh’s only not-for-profit sci-fi and pop culture convention, which is now in its fourth year and organised entirely by volunteers.

Taking place on February 15, 16 and 17 at the city’s Corn Exchange, the event donates all profits to CHAS, which cares for children with life-shortening conditions and their families across the whole of Scotland, including at Rachel House, Kinross.

Last year Capital Sci-Fi Con raised over £74,000 and Peter will be helping smash that target this year by donating the entire proceeds of autograph sales from his appearance to CHAS.

Laura Campbell, senior fundraiser at CHAS, said: “We’re so excited that Peter will be attending Capital Sci-Fi Con 2019. He’s a huge star and it’s fantastic he has chosen to support CHAS and help us with our mission of reaching every family across Scotland who is facing the unimaginable, that their child is going to die.

“Peter’s incredible generosity of donating his whole autograph fee will mean we will be closer to reaching our target of smashing last year’s £74,000 total. Tickets to the convention are selling fast so make sure you get yours!”

Peter Capaldi said: “CHAS is an incredible charity and I’m proud they have invited me to my first ever Scottish fan event.”

Star Wars, Harry Potter and Willow star, Warwick Davis, is also confirmed to attend the event – making this the biggest and most star-studded Capital Sci-Fi Con ever.

CHAS cares for families via its two hospices, Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House in Balloch and via its CHAS at Home service, which reaches families living across the whole of Scotland to deliver palliative and respite care in homes and hospitals.
