Stuart Braithwaite of post-rock titans Mogwai will share a bill with DIY dream pop tour de force Bell Lungs and Welsh-American folk pilgrim Gwenifer Raymond when the latest Tae Sup Wi’ A Fifer is held at Kirkcaldy’s Adam Smith Theatre on Friday October 25
It’s the latest multi-genre club night programmed by Fife musician James Yorkston who, while no stranger to getting in big names, sees the latest line-up as a “bit of a coup”.
James said: “Having the lovely Stuart Braithwaite doing a solo set for Tae Sup wi’ a Fifer is a bit of a coup. Mogwai, believe it or not, are a definite influence on the soundscapes we build in Yorkston Thorne Khan, although I can see how that may not be immediately evident.
“Bell Lungs I’ve known for years, since the early days of Fence Records.
“She’s always been up to something new, exploring sounds and ideas.
“What to expect? I have no clue, really, but that’s good, right? My favourite type of artist.
“Gwenifer Raymond I don’t know personally, but her videos look braw and I’d say we share an interest in old time banjo and John Fahey. It’ll be a classic Tae Sup – but then, they all are…”
