A strapping lad – Malcolm Middleton to perform in Kirkcaldy

When Malcolm Middleton performed as a guitarist and songwriter with the Scottish alternative rock band Arab Strap, which split amicably in 2006, it was Aidan Moffat who was the main lyricist.

Now, having continued to write and perform as a solo artist, Malcolm, 42, describes his own material as “more traditional singer-songwriter”.

In the past he has released instrumental material under the pseudonym ‘Human Don’t Be Angry’.

But when he plays in Kirkcaldy on Saturday night, it will be a full blown singer-songwriter acoustic set with just him and a guitar.

“It’s acoustic on Saturday. Then I’m back in Dundee later in the month with a full band,” he said.

Falkirk-raised Malcolm has lived in Anstruther since 2012. He previously performed there at several Fence Collective Home Game events. But his “excuse” to move to the East Neuk was confirmed when his wife got a job in the area.
