Radio 2 listeners will be familiar with the powerful voice and accomplished songwriting of Nell Bryden.
A favourite of the station, the modern-day Dixie, bluegrass, jazz, soul and blues performer is bringing her live tour to Dundee this weekend.
The 39-year-old songwriter from Brooklyn has had a career full of ups and downs.
Bryden was living in New York during 9/11, an event she says had a profound effect on her.
Ten years later, in 2011, she developed alopecia and lost her hair.
The ordeal inspired several of her songs and she also penned a feature in a British newspaper about the experience.
These days she chooses not to perform in a wig, presenting herself as she is. She has supported acts including Gary Barlow, Jools Holland and KT Tunstall.
Nell will be performing songs from across her 15- year career, including hits from her fifth and most recent album Wayfarer.
