Since her appointment as principal flautist with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in 2003, Katherine Bryan has thrilled many audiences with her exquisite playing.
Solo performances in Scotland are rare and we have to suffice with snatches of solo work in an orchestral capacity.
However, that changes when she takes to the stage on Tuesday accompanied by Scott Mitchell.
In this concert, under the auspices of Dundee Chamber Music, she will perform music by Drdla, Dvorak, Poulenc, Connesson, Debussy and Gade.
Possibly the most famous work on show will be Debussy’s Syrinx.
It might last only three or so minutes but it is commonly considered to be an indispensable part of any flautist’s repertoire.
Whereas Debussy was a man of many famous compositions, that cannot be said for Jacob Gade, whose Tango Jalousie Fantasia closes the concert.
