Now Leith man Dean Owens is bringing his searingly soulful voice and melodies to the slightly less populated environs of The Weem Inn, outside Aberfeldy.
Recent years have seen mixed emotions for the former front man of Scottish Americana band The Felsons.
He has toured everywhere from Europe to the USA and Australia.
Last year his Nashville recorded Into the Sea CD received rave reviews and extensive airplay – including a session for Bob Harris Country on BBC Radio 2.
Touring included opening for Rosanne Cash at London’s Union Chapel, and headlining his own shows at Southern Fried festival, the London Folk and Roots Festival and Edinburgh’s Christmas Spiegeltent.
But he has also opened up about the heartache that influenced some of his songs, including his sister’s battle with cancer and other friends who fell ill.
