Chris Helme, the former busker who became frontman of late 1990s indie band The Seahorses, is returning to Dunfermline’s Fire Station Creative on July 28 less than a year after his first solo performance at the venue.
The 48-year-old Yorkshireman, who sang on anthemic Seahorses tracks including Love is the Law and Blinded by the Sun, will again be supported by The Cognac Twins.
At the age of 19, Chris was no stranger to singing and performing. He began playing pubs and clubs in his native York and his first band Daisy Space/Genuine Moon Material began forming folk-jazz band Chutzpah in 1993.
It was while busking outside Woolworths in York’s Coney Street, however, that a friend of John Squire (of Stone Roses fame) was impressed by his version of The Rolling Stones song No Expectations.
He requested a demo tape which was passed ion to Squire, and he was invited to join The Seahorses from there.
