Texan director Wes Anderson – famous for quirky feature films like The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and Fantastic Mr Fox – has brought his idiosyncratic charm to the new Christmas advert for H&M
The four-minute mini-movie shows off all of the director’s signature styles, playing out like a spiritual sequel to his cult 2007 hit The Darjeeling Limited.
The lead in that film (and regular collaborator) Adrien Brody stars as a train conductor named Ralph in the retro short film, working on a moving locomotive which runs into problems as it whizzes through the snow.
Through elaborate means, he takes delivery of a tree, decorations and a Santa hat through a train window and stages a Christmas surprise for the passengers while a medley of Little Drummer Boy and John Lennon’s Happy Xmas (War is Over) plays over the action.
