The team at Culture Perth and Kinross are collecting people’s photos, objects and reflections on life during the coronavirus pandemic to preserve this moment in history.
The culture body is asking people to not throw away the things that are shaping their lives during the current pandemic but to use them to help build a picture of lockdown life across the region.
Local historians believe no other crisis in recent history has changed life so completely in such a short period of time.
However, the team say it has never been easier to document everyday life.
Culture Perth and Kinross is seeking participants to help create a new collection dedicated to this experience.
Staff at CPK want to know how daily life for people, families and neighbourhoods may have changed as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The team are focusing on people working, schooling children from home, caring for others, self-isolating, social distancing or volunteering in the community.
Researchers are also hoping to document the daily lives of key workers supporting essential health, welfare or other public services, as well as local businesses or organisations which is making a difference in other ways.
CPK staff are hoping that as many people as possible will contribute, and take part in their project as families.
Everything collected will then become part of the museum and archives permanent collections, ensuring future generations can explore this moment in history.
Gill Findlay, Interim Head of Museums and Collections said: “It’s so important that people all over Perth and Kinross take part in this project to create a new, contemporary collection which reflects their experience – the stories of individuals, families and communities living through the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.
“Museum and Archive collections depend on the generosity of, and contributions from, people living locally in order to develop and to stay relevant.
“This collection will be used for future research, learning and exhibition purposes, and it will be vital in communicating to future generations what this experience was like.”

CPK will not be able to accept new items for the collection until buildings begin to re-open, so please keep any potential donations safe until then.
