A Tayside artist has published a graphic novel about Perth and Dundee’s early settlers.
Alfie Pound, 25, received an art award from the Tay Landscape Partnership (TayLP), a project led by Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust.
Having longed to become a recognised artist, Mr Pound noticed an advert offering funding to support young people develop their careers.
His successful application allowed him to research and create a story based on Perth and Dundee’s early settlers.
He went on to produce Settle Petal, a light-hearted look at life during the Mesolithic period.
He said: “Since moving to Dundee six years ago I’ve really fallen for Tayside… the landscape, the people, the accents, everything about it. Having the opportunity to make comics about its history is such a pleasure.”
The graphic novel was exhibited at the AK Bell Library in Perth as part of Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust’s Archaeology Month.
Lisa Snedden, TayLP’s learning and interpretation officer, said: “The novel captures an important part of Perth’s history so it’s… educationally important too.”
The TayLP have now commissioned Mr Pound to produce another graphic novel.
The closing date for this year’s art award is Friday July 29.
