A new exhibition at the V&A in London gives a sense of what visitors to Dundee’s own V&A can look forward to later this year.
Philip Long, director of V&A Dundee, was one of those shown works from the epic Stanley Spencer series Shipbuilding on the Clyde ahead of the opening of the Ocean Liners: Speed and Style at V&A South Kensington.
The exhibition, which opens in London on Saturday, will travel to the banks of the River Tay for the opening of V&A Dundee on September 15.
It is the first exhibition to explore the design and cultural impact of the ocean liner on an international scale and will be the first major V&A show exhibited in Scotland.
Stanley Spencer was commissioned by the British Government to record industries involved in World War Two. He visited the Clyde shipyards and sketched the different activities involved in shipbuilding.
Tickets for Ocean Liners: Speed and Style at V&A Dundee will go on sale in March and will range from between ÂŁ8 and ÂŁ12 for adults. A range of concessions and discounts will be available.
