ByLouise Gowans
In February 2019, the V&A London will open the biggest exhibition the UK has ever seen on the house of Dior.
Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams will showcase Dior’s work from 1947 to the present day, looking at the history and impact of the designer and the six artistic directors who have succeeded him in working on his namesake brand.
The widely anticipated exhibition will feature more than 500 objects, with 200 rare Haute Couture garments shown alongside accessories, fashion photography, film, perfume, make-up, illustrations, magazines and the designer’s personal possessions.
Highlights will include a Dior dress worn by Princess Margaret on her 21st birthday which has been loaned to the V&A by the Museum of London.
This will be the museum’s biggest fashion exhibition since Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty in 2015.
