What is it?
Part of the Vintage chain, it’s a pub and restaurant near the Fife village of Leslie.
First impressions?
Spotless and tastefully decorated in a modern rustic style, complete with ceiling beams. We were welcomed as soon as we came in and shown to a table by the window.
What did you have?
Much of a wait?
Drinks came after about five minutes, while the sandwiches took 10 minutes to come. There was quite a gap before we were asked what we’d like for dessert but this was all to the good as we didn’t feel rushed in any way.
How was the food?
Dad’s chicken BLT was really well filled and a definite bargain at the price. Mum’s ham and mustard contained good quality meat and came on a lightly warmed focaccia which was the right side of crispy. Our son’s fish fingers (home made in batter and very tasty) also came in a warmed focaccia. The desserts were all very moreish – the Eton mess was a delight of meringue, cream and fruit, while the sherry trifle was deliciously boozy, and the crumble was everything it should be – loads of seasonal fruit, a crunchy topping and lashings of custard, or cream if you prefer.
Good for children?
Good for the rest of the family?
The menu is huge and if you fancy something more than a sandwich for lunch there’s plenty to choose from. The service was attentive and pleasant and the atmosphere is delightful. There’s a lovely grassy outdoor eating area also.
