These are the first pictures of Hyundai’s new i30 ahead of its debut at the Paris Motor Show.
The big news is the new model will have a hybrid option.
Previous spy images of Hyundai’s family hatchback showed it under heavy disguise, but these darkened studio shots display the curvier front-end, Ioniq-inspired front grille and angular, i20-style rear profile. There’s also vertical LED daytime running lights. It’s a markedly different look to the current car.
The new i30 will use a range of downsized turbocharged petrol engines, plus the familiar diesels – and a new hybrid engine Hyundai is developing.
There’s also likely to be a hot i30 N with a turbocharged 2.0 litre petrol engine that should develop in excess of 260bhp.
That’s one I am excited about getting my hands on.
