Vauxhall has announced a 252bhp version of its Insignia saloon and estate.
The Insignia GSi has a 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to a new eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Vauxhall says the car can lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife faster then the previous-generation Insignia’s range topping VXR model, despite giving away 69bhp.
The quicker pace is down to the new car being 100kg lighter, and having four-wheel drive with torque vectoring, which shifts power from side to side for better traction.
There are four drive modes: Standard, Tour, Sport and Competition. Prices and performance figures are yet to be released.
