For many years Kia and Hyundai have offered warranties head and shoulders above their opposition.
With seven years/100,000 miles or five years unlimited miles respectively, buying one of the South Korean companies’ cars meant a long spell of ownership before the spectre of mechanical gremlins becomes an issue.
No other manufacturers have been bold enough to follow suit, until now. MG has announced its new compact SUV the ZS will come with a seven year warranty.
It’s limited to 80,000 miles, rather than Kia’s 100,000 miles, but it’s still a huge step in the right direction. Let’s hope the move encourages more manufacturers to look at extending the industry standard three year/60,000 mile warranty.
The ZS goes on sale from today with prices starting at £12,495
