Kia has added a new, more powerful engine to its Picanto GT Line in the UK.
The ‘warm hatch’ adds a number of subtle styling cues to the budget supermini, but it now has the most powerful engine ever fitted to the car.
The new engine produces 99bhp and can be fitted to the GT-Line and GT-Line S models – sitting above the two naturally-aspirated petrol engines already on offer. With this engine, the titchy city car can get from 0-60mph in 9.8 seconds and go on to a top speed of 112mph – similar figures to the Volkswagen Up! TSI and Renault Twingo GT.
On the economy front, it returns 55.4mpg and 117g/km CO2.
Prices for the new engine start from £13,320 for the GT-Line version, while the GT-Line S model costs from £14,720.
