Mercedes has unveiled one of its most desirable AMG models yet.
The AMG CLA 35 is based on the second generation of Mercedes handsome four-door coupe.
Under the bonnet lies a turbocharged 2.0 litre petrol engine the puts out a whopping 306bhp.
It’ll cover the 0-62mph sprint in 4.7 seconds en route to an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.
Helping put all that power down effectively are a number of chassis tweaks, including improved torsional stiffness up front with the addition of an aluminium shear panel, an adjusted steering rack and the optional inclusion of adaptive dampers.
Mercedes has made sure no one will mistake the AMG model for a bog standard version of the car.
They’ve fitted a new radiator grille and restyled bumper up front, while at the back a diffuser has been added along with a small spoiler on the boot.
The wheels are 18in as standard too, although a 19in set can be added as an optional extra.
Inside, a flat-bottomed multifunction steering wheel is included, while metal paddle gear shifters allow the driver to change gear manually should they wish.
A ‘Supersport’ mode is available for the digital display that replaces traditional dials, placing a rev counter front and centre of the screen with other info shown in the form of bars to either side.
There’s the latest infotainment system from the German car maker, which uses a “Hey Mercedes” voice-activated system similar to that used by Apple, Amazon and Google.
The Mercedes AMG CLA 35 is expected to be launched in the UK over the summer.
There’s no word yet on final specifications or UK pricing but expect that nearer the time.
