The sharp looking new Peugeot 2008 will be available as a fully electric model when it goes on sale early next year.
The new car is 140mm longer than its predecessor and 20mm lower, while boot space is up 10 litres at 434 litres.
All cars will be front wheel drive and there will be a broad range of petrol and diesel engines, as well as the option of a fully electric model.
The electric version has a 136bhp electric motor coupled to a 50KW motor. Range is estimated at 192 miles.
Support for a 100kW rapid charger means it can charge to 80% in just 30 minutes.
That range is 100 miles less than similar models from Hyundai and Kia but Peugeot is expected to offer the e-2008 at a lower price point of around £25,000 to offset this.
