Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Every year the city opens its doors to tourists from around the world for the fantastic Edinburgh Fringe Festival. This is the world’s largest arts festival and runs from 5– 29 August, making it the perfect event to attend to mark the end of a (hopefully) glorious summer. Performers from around the world flock to the city and perform in unique and intimate venues, offering something for everyone regardless of taste or interests.

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo

The world renowned Tattoo has attracted over 14 million people since the first show in 1950. The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo will once again unite performers from four continents to host one of the most spectacular shows in the world, a colourful kaleidoscope of music, dance and displays, set against the incomparable backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.

The venue for the famous Military Tattoo, Edinburgh Castle is the city’s most popular attraction. Perched on the top of Castle Rock, the castle overlooks the Royal Mile and dominates the city’s beautiful skyline.  When visiting the castle, make sure not the miss the iconic field gun being fired, which goes off every day at 1pm.

The Real Mary King’s Close

Delve into Edinburgh’s past, and visit the underground streets and spaces of Mary King’s Close.  This attraction takes you back to the 1600s when the busiest areas of the city could be found underground. Take a guided tour through the historic closes, and listen to the fascinating tales of everyday life under the city. The area is also infamous for its ghosts and unexplained happenings, which many visitors claim to experience when they are on the tour.
