Great Barrier Reef
Stretching across two thousand kilometres of coastline the Great Barrier Reef welcomes around 1.5 million visitors to the World Heritage site. The Great Barrier Reef is the largest expanse of coral on earth and home to a large ecosystem of marine animals including sea turtles, stingrays, sharks and an assortment of tropical fish. Tourists visiting the reef coast can take advantage of the many excursions the local guides have on offer including boat trips, shallow water snorkeling, diving or island coastal walks to enjoy.
Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park
This national park is one of the most popular sites in the whole of Australia. Home to the impressive Ayers Rock, it is recommended to visit the park early morning to enjoy the first rays of sunlight hitting the rock. The national park is officially owned by the Anangu Aboriginal tribe and has deep cultural significance for its traditional people. Visitors to the park can enjoy a guided ‘Mala’ walk where you can discover powerful spiritual stories and fine examples of Anangu rock art along the way.
Bondi Beach
One of the world’s greatest beaches Bondi Beach is enjoyed by thousands of surfers. With the average water temperature being twenty one degrees Celsius the beach consistently enjoys the perfect waves for surfers to make the most of. Bondi is a great place to learn to surf with one of the surf instructors or to enjoy a walk along the beach front.
Sydney Opera House
Sydney Opera House was designed by a Danish architect and is perhaps the most recognisable landmark in Australia. The site is listed as a World Heritage site and visually the opera house resembles the white sails of a yacht. The opera house has a commanding presence along the Circular Quay-front and adds to the view of the already impressive Sydney Harbour and Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Daintree Rainforest
The hoards of backpackers and nature enthusiasts who visit Australia often enjoy nothing more than going on a nature trek through the green foliage of the Daintree Rainforest. Daintree, once at threat from logging companies, has now become a protected national park ensuring its ancient ecosystem of plants and animals are able to thrive. Daintree is home to a discovery centre and museum where visitors can find out more information about the history and current climate of the national park.
