Abertay University shares more information about its upcoming Open Day on 31 October.
You’ve probably watched with a heavy heart other people’s children not quite having the start to university life that others have had in previous years.
And you’ve possibly put yourself in in their shoes – what would you do and what would you tell your soon-to-be-leaving-school child if they were looking at going to university next year?
A university education is a great thing: it prepares you for a professional career and with a degree you’re more attractive to an employer. By the time school-leavers starting university next year graduate, the world will be a lot brighter.
The challenge is that there’s a huge group of school leavers who simply do not know what they’d like to do or where they’d like to go, who are faced with making some big life decisions as the UCAS application deadline looms. That’s normal. And it’s probably as stressful for you as it is for them.

An Open Day gives students the opportunity to figure out what it is they’d actually like to study. Or, if they know what subject area they enjoy, help them narrow down a bit further to which degree they’d like to pursue. It also has key information about the application process, funding, support on campus and student life.
It’s good for you to know about it too.
As much as they may not let on, your opinion matters and what you think about the university path they choose is important to them.
