The Hampden pitch invasion made headlines around the world and took social media by storm.
Analysis of Twitter shows posts concerning the Scottish Cup final were mainly limited to the UK as game kicked off at 3pm.
As the match unfolded there were several bursts in the frequency of tweets as two goals by Anthony Stokes and one each from Kenny Miller and Andy Halliday left the game poised at 2-2.
However when David Gray’s extra-time header went in around 4.47pm, sparking a pitch invasion just minutes later, the world Twitter map exploded.
Tweets were sent from every corner of the globe as images of the disorder spread worldwide.
The footballing capitals of Barcelona and Milan were included, as was every major city in Europe.
A flurry of tweets were sent from the likes of Hong Kong, Tokyo, Islamabad, New Delhi, Riyadh and Lagos.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, expat havens such as Washington, Toronto, New York and Miami proved hotspots despite the time difference.
Superpowers China and Russia were notably almost silent throughout the entire match.
