A local man could be fitted with an electronic tag after he admitted assaulting his partner.
Ryan Haggart had been out until around 1am and arrived home to questions from his girlfriend about reports that he had been fighting with someone, Forfar Sheriff Court heard.
Fiscal depute Bill Kermode said Haggart became angry and started banging doors, before trying to pin the woman against a wall.
When she tried to leave the room he punched her on the head. Haggart, of Commerce Street, then got into a struggle with another man, who was also in the house at the time.
The 33-year-old admitted charges of assault and breaching the peace at the property on Camus Road, Arbroath, on November 11.
Sheriff Simon Collins deferred sentence until December 20 for a community justice social work report and for a restriction of liberty order assessment.
