A man has appeared in court in connection with an incident involving armed police officers.
Dale Smith, 34, of Backbrae, Brechin, appeared in private from custody on a petition at Forfar Sheriff Court alleging a charge of assault.
Smith made no plea, was committed for further examination and was remanded in custody.
An emergency response unit attended Glenlethnot Place in Montrose on Monday. Armed officers were at the scene for an hour and a half before a man was arrested at 12.40pm.
Police Scotland said specialist officers were there to provide support after the alarm was raised following a disturbance inside a property.
Smith also pleaded not guilty to 10 road traffic charges.
An intermediate diet was set for November 13 and a trial diet for December 5.
