Chay Ewing, 19, a detainee at Polmont Young Offenders’ Institution, was sent to detention for 10 months by Sheriff Alastair Carmichael.
Ewing had previously admitted possessing an axe at Newton Crescent in Arbroath on April 21 and possessing a knife and a screwdriver at Arbirlot Road in the town on the same date.
He also admitted that he wilfully or recklessly smashed windows at Newton Crescent by throwing a brick through them on the same date.
