Plans by a serial domestic abuser to appeal his prison sentence have been abandoned.
Lawyers acting for John Ormond, 67, initially lodged a motion with the High Court of Criminal Appeal over his three-year prison term.
But the appeal has now been withdrawn.
Last December, Ormond, of Montrose, was found guilty by a jury at Dundee Sheriff Court of repeatedly battering his wife over three decades.
The 12 assault offences were committed between 1979 and 2004. Three other charges were not proven.
Sheriff Tom Hughes said in sentencing: “You were convicted of some quite appalling conduct.
“It is clear you have caused catastrophic consequences to your victim.”
