Denise Forbes, 46, of Strathgray Crescent, Invergowrie, was ordered by Dundee Sheriff Court to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work.
Forbes admitted fraudulently claiming £23,000 worth of child and working tax credits over a four-year period between May 9 2009 and October 31 2013 at Balunie Drive, Castlewood Avenue and elsewhere.
She committed the fraud by repeatedly telling DWP and HMRC she was a single parent, when in fact she was living with her partner James Traynor.
Forbes was also placed on a four-month curfew confining her to her home between 7pm and 7am daily.
A confiscation hearing was set for August 10. Defence solicitor John Boyle said: “She has a lump sum of £16,000 available to put towards repayment.”
